Gardener impressed in his debut, showing a slick ground game and aggressive slams but the judges saw the fight another way.
The judges gave the fight in the opposite direction: (29-28) BeSharate but it didn’t stop the North East native smiling as he believes the experience was amazing.
He said: “The experience was amazing in front of the amazing North East crowd and couldn’t stop smiling even when I didn’t get the result I felt I earned !!!”
The three-round thriller saw both fighters get into some dangerous positions and several chances to finish the fight but it was not to be. Gardener’s debut for Europe’s biggest MMA promotion may not have gone the way he would like but it was the kind of performance that should get him another invitation to the event.
He said: “I haven’t spoken to BAMMA yet but hopefully my fight stuck out where they will want me back !! I never really get upset from a fight unless I don’t put 110%”
The North East crowd was amazing and a certain stand in the corner of the arena made for a real North East atmosphere.
He continued: “I think the fight went good once I shaked the nerves off we both pushed each other to the limit and hopefully the crowd enjoyed it!!”
The future looks bright for Gardener, he said: “My next fight is a pro k1 British title fight on Pride and Glory on April 27th against Mark Platts who is another top fighter with a 4-0 k1 record and ranked 3 in UK MMA rankings, so it’s another fight where I have my work cut out for me but that’s the way I like it.”
Thanks go out to: “I want like to thank all the NFA and TFT lads for getting me ready, thank BESUPREME for keeping me in shape for my fight!! I want to thank select group for helping me with my SafeMMA , fitness2000 for letting me train there and thank Made4TheCage Management for getting me the good fights and helping me out with sponsors.
