This Saturday will see the return of Made4TheCage to Rainton Meadows Arena and will see James Mulheron face Dayman Lake in the main event of the evening.

The Juggernaut

Local boy Mulheron is ranked #2 nationally as a Heavyweight and will be looking to carry on his unbeaten 6-0-0 record when he faces London Fighter Lake in what is a ground-breaking card for the North-East promotion.

With #1 Ranked Heavyweight Phil De Fries also fighting on the card, Mulheron is looking to impress on this card as the MMA world will surely be casting it’s eye over Sunderland. When asked about a potential move to the UFC, the biggest MMA promotion in the world today, Mulheron said: “If I finish my next few opponents then I’m sure I’ll get there, I don’t mind having a few more fights in England at all but I feel as if I’m ready now.”

Mulheron also insists he isn’t overlooking Lake but feels as though he will come out victorious this weekend: “He’s a good grappler and very good at Brazilian Ju-Jitsu but I am ready. In any area that this fight goes, I’ll be ready.”

Lake himself is a top UK heavyweight, currently ranked in the #10 slot, and holds victories over highly ranked fighters such as Rab Truesdale and Tomasz Czerwinski on his way to an impressive 6-3-0 record.

Lake, who is nicknamed Godzilla, insists that this fight will live up to the billing: “I’m not the greatest at publicising fights but this is a huge UK heavyweight fight. I consider myself as fairly relevant and James is established as relevant and talented so that in itself means it is worth a watch”

Godzilla is considered as underdog due to Mulheron fighting in his home region and giving up eight spaces to ‘The Juggernaut’ but he still has issued guarantees that he will come out with the victory on Saturday: “No one takes a fight with the intention of losing. As far as I’m concerned, in my career MMA has shown me that anything can happen.

There is only one thing I’m sure of and that is that my hand will be raised I have no other options to consider.”
