Fishgold, 23, currently has an impressive 10-1 record in professional MMA and will face former Cage Warrior lightweight Ryan Roddy in the cage as the two look to put on a show for the crowd tomorrow.
Fishgold is coming off a controversial loss in Thailand to Asian fighter Gi Bum Moon, a decision that many feel was unjust, but is confident of getting himself back in the win column tomorrow: ‘The loss was devastating to say the least and a lot of things went wrong leading up to that fight.
‘Being young, 21 at the time and 10-0 people just expect you to go out and destroy people. It really put a lot of pressure on me and made me change my style. I went out not to lose rather than go out and go for the kill from the start.
‘I feel now I’ve got that one loss I can just say f**k it and get back to my old ways. I’m going to finish this fight.’
At just 23 and with a record like Fishgold’s along side his name, it’s not hard to see why many have touted him for greatness.
When asked where this fight would put him in regards to going forward in his career he responded: ‘It’ll put me one step closer to my dreams… being a world champion.
‘I don’t do this for money or anything else I do it to be seen as the best. I want to leave a legacy and my name to be remembered when it’s my time to go.’
There’s no doubting Fishgold’s ability to talk and back it up when it comes to stepping into the cage and it will certainly be a tough test for the Liverpool fighter when he steps in the cage with Roddy tomorrow.
When asked how he sees the fight going Fishgold responded: ‘I want to gain fans lets go out and have a good fight and bring a lot of aggression. I see me winning by the second round.’
