The two welterweight fighters opened the main card with high expectations, after Made 4 The Cage Promoter Steven Scott thought the contest was destined to be fight of the night.

Durham’s Chris Thirkwell delivered a first round TKO victory in a dominating performance over Graham Langley at Made 4 The Cage 15.

Both fighters came into the contest unbeaten with seven fights between them in their MMA careers, Langely boasting a 4-0-0 record and Spartan’s Gym’s Thirkell a 3-0-0 record.

Thirkell came out strong from the opening bell and quickly took down Langley with a well executed double leg in the opening exchanges.
Thus demonstrating the quality of the Spartan’s Gym wrestling which is becoming a key factor for their fighters.

Thirkell quickly moved into side control and landed some heavy elbows and hammerfists which cut Langely above the eye.

Langely had previously stated that the winner of this would go on to bigger and better things in the UK MMA scene but unfortunately for the independent fighter it will be Thirkell who may just do that.

The fight was ended around the two minute mark thanks to some devastating strikes from Thirkell, who had at this point moved into the dominant mount position.

Thirkell had previously wanted to move into the K1 striking scene after this bout but after such a dominant performance, he may be rethinking that strategy.

A very impressive win for Thirkell who now moves to 4-0-0 and still can claim an undefeated record. Disappointing for Langley but no doubt the North-East fighter will bounce back.
