Chris Bungard: “I am going to submit [Freakshow] in the third round”

Chirs ‘Bad Guy’ Bungard (8-3-0) believes an upset is in store when he meets Colin ‘Freakshow’ Fletcher (14-8-0) at Made4thecage 25 Legacy – “I am going to submit Colin in the third round with a rear naked choke.”

The two will meet September 2nd for the vacant Made4TheCage British Lightweight title, in a bout that Bungard is convinced will be a war: “I just know how tough I am and you will struggle to find anybody tougher when it comes down to it.

“If you watch Colin’s fights, he never goes away easy. He is in it until the end, even if he’s bloodied up and that’s what I love. He is a real fighter when it gets tough in there, and that’s what I like.

“We are both up there when it comes to toughness but it is down to technique on the night and who wants it more.”

Although having a lot of respect for his opponent, Bungard believes a combination of Fletcher’s age and the 155lb weight will be big issues: “I know he last fought at a catchweight and he is dropping more weight for this, so it will be interesting to see what shape he is in.  I do think that his weight is going to be a factor.

“He hasn’t fought at lightweight for a long time and at 34, it is what you put your body through that’s why I think the weight will be an issue. It’ll take its tole on him.”

This will be Bungards first appearance on a Made4thecage card and he is relishing the chance to show the North East his skillset: “I got offered 3 fights but they weren’t good fights for me. Then I got offered Colin by Made4thecage and was then told it was for the British title.

“I know Made4thecage is one of the best shows in the UK.”

‘Bad guy’ is thriving on the chance to live up to his namesake and upset the home crowd : “I embrace the sh*t out of coming in and being the bad guy. On the night, I will be in the cage taunting the fans and taunting Colin!

“I always bring a big crowd anywhere I go. His fans will be loud because it’s his home town but trust me, my fans will definitely be the loudest fans in the room.

“I know for a fact it is going to be a great atmosphere.”
