The 9th instalment of the MMA competition, on February 16 next year, will have North East MMA fans taste-buds tingling as two extremely skilful mixed martial artists face each other in an intriguing contest.
Fawcett (5-4-0) will take on Remedios (17-9-2), who is stepping out of retirement after two years away from the sport. But Remedios has gained experience fighting across the globe whilst Fawcett has been busy making a name for himself, fighting the rump of his bouts in the North East and winning the European bantamweight title.
Remedios, however, has a smooth ground game, finishing 13 of his 17 opponents by submission.
Fawcett, of the Lodge Fightclub, said: “I am really motivated for this fight and am really looking forward to it. I am going to be real fit for the fight as I know that Leigh will be in shape too, it should be a great fight.”
Fawcett is coming off an impressive 27-second TKO in his last fight at Supremacy FC7 that saw him take home the European bantamweight strap. To add to his success, the fast-rising pro’s last fight at featherweight is a nominee for the fight of the year award, which was against European No 4 Robert Whiteford.
Fawcett said: “I feel better at bantamweight and I just want to push forward up the rankings next year and see where things go.”
This fight has all the makings to be an exceptional showcase of MMA at Made4TheCage 9: Night of Champions on February 16 at Rainton Meadows Arena in Houghton-le-Spring.
